The Missouri Naloxone Project began in 2025 out of the need for education and naloxone in our healthcare system.

We are working on partnerships with medical organizations in the state as well as harm reduction agencies. In 2023, there were 1,948 fatalities due to overdose in Missouri — 73% of these fatalities due to opioids.

Monthly opioid overdose-related hospitalization, emergency department (ED) visits, and emergency medical services (EMS) encounter trends are showing seasonality, with the number of overdoses rising through the spring into summer and decreasing through autumn into winter.
